Maintenance begins by disconnecting power to the computer system and removing its case. A vacuum or compressed air is used to remove dust and other particulate matter from the computer system's interior. Once the interior is clean, all memory modules, miscellaneous modem, video, nic, and controller cards, are checked for proper "seating". The data and power cables are also inspected for wear and proper insertion.
Prior to reassembly, power is restored to the system, the CPU heat sink and power supply fans are then inspected to assure they are functioning properly. Once the component and cable inspection is completed the case is reassembled.
Next our attention focuses on the computer system's peripheral components, i.e. the printer/scanner and/or external USB devices, cleaning, vaccuming and inspecting their connections as well.
Once this procedure is completed the computer will be rebooted. Floppy and Optical drives are then inspected and if necessary cleaned and their operation verified.
Upon completion of the physical cleaning procedure and inspection, system performance will be taken into account. The system is thoroughly scanned for malware and if found removed.
Next we inspect the operating system to assure operating system critical updates are installed.
The next procedure involves removing temporary files files from your system, these occur naturally when you surf the web or install/uninstall software from your system, since they are not required any longer they will be removed from your system recovering valueable storage space. Your system registry will also be checked and cleaned as well.
Next, additional tests are run to benchmark your network performance and evaluate your protection while online.
In conclusion, the proper functioning of your computer is verified.
Performing these procedures take approximately 1.5 to 2.5 hours depending on the condition and age of the computer, and requires your system be functional.
Once system maintenance is complete, you will be provided a handwritten summary detailing the health of your computer. Any areas requiring further attention such as defective hardware or security vulnerabilities or any defective hardware will be disclosed.
